Baizushan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The name of Baizushan Formation was given by the No712 Geological Team of Guangdong in 1958. Type Locality is at the Baizushan section in the Kaiping County (112º35', 22º19').
Lithology and Thickness
The Baizushan Formation is a group of multi-colored coarse-grained clastic and volcanic rocks. Lower part consists of conglomerate, sandstone, gravel-bearing sandstone, tuffaceous siltstone. Upper part is composed of sandy conglomerate, tuffaceous sandy conglomerate interbedded by tuff, tuffaceous siltstone, and silty shale. It is 96 to 502 m in thickness.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It unconformably contacts the underlying Siwangshan Fm (not in Lexicon); Regionally, the next older unit is the Gaopiing Gr volcanics of late Jurassic.
Upper contact
Conformably under the Baihedong Fm
Regional extent
The formation is distributed in the area of Guangzhou, Kaiping, Heshan and Dongwan.

The formation yields Conchostracans Feiyunella zhejiangensis, Linhaiella longiformis, L. mirifica; Charophyte Atopochara trivolvis.
